ROLL FORMING EQUIPMENT INFORMATION

ALL ROLL FORMING EQUIPMENT EQUIPMENT

Roll forming is a continuous bending operation. Sheets or strips of metal are bent along a linear axis. Sets of rolls (roll stations) progressively shape the metal. Multiple roll stations are used until the desired bending is achieved.

Because of the way in which the material is progressively shapped, ther is little change in the cross sectional area of the piece.

This process is ideal for producing pieces with long lengths or in large quantities. Output can be in different length parts without changing tooling. Most pieces that can be formed by sheet forming can be roll formed. Processes usually progress at speeds from 10 to 500 feet/minute, depending the type of production. Soft metal can be formed faster than hard material.

Asside from the actual bending process, a line will usually have some other major parts: an entry section, cutoff press, and exit section.
