Age: 1985 OUTLINE OF MATERIAL FLOW: Pallets of raw material are loaded onto the AS-748 Auto Storage System. Suction cups pick up one piece of material from the storage system. A multi-sheet sensor is used to verify that only one sheet of material is picked up. Material is then loaded by conveyor onto the table of the VELA II Turret Punch Press. Material is pushed against three spring loaded contact sensors, two of which are located on the workholders, and the third in the X-Gauge Origin Block. When contact is made with all three sensors, the punching commands are executed. The semi-finished punched sheet is then transferred by unloading device onto BLS6090 right angle shear table. Material is automatically origined into work holders and the shearing command begins. Punching and shearing operations are simultaneous for faster productivity. After each part is sheared, the finished product is conveyed and sorted into bins by part size, scrap, and designated locations. Extremely large parts may be left in the material clamps and removed manually.
