Allis-Chalmers was starting in Milwaukee in the 1840's. They entered the farm equipment business in 1914. They became one of the largest manufacturers of equipment in North America.
The newly renamed Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Company entered the farm machinery business and introduced the 10-18, its first tractor. Allis-Chalmers had great success starting in the 1930s with the WC and the small farm B and C. In 1985, the farm equipment operations were sold to Klockner-Humboldt-Deutz of Germany. Due to economic conditions, in 1985 they were forced to sell the farm equipment division to K-H-Deutz AG of Germany. In turn, Duetz sold them to AGCO inc. in 1990. Allis-Chalmers maintained an office in Milwaukee until January 1999.
